The Finance Team will meet today at 5:00pm.

There will be a Church Council meeting next Sunday, October 22nd at 4:30pm. All Council Chairmen and Team Leaders are expected to attend. Discussion will cover activities and events through December 31, 2017.

The first AWANA Store Night is Wednesday, October 25th.  If you would like to donate items for the clubbers to “purchase” with their points, please bring them by Sunday, October 22nd. Items should cost between $1 and $10. Please leave the receipt with the items. You may also donate money and items will be purchased by the AWANA leaders. Money donations should be given to Shelia McLean.

Trunk or Treat is Saturday, October 28th from 5pm-7pm. A sign-up sheet is in the Fellowship Hall for vehicle “trunks” to be decorated and a game provided. Sunday School Classes or multiple families are encouraged to participate by decorating a vehicle and providing a game for little  costumed visitors. Donations of candy, drinks, and cookies are needed .  See Lynn Hicks with questions.

The JBA WMU Red Box Christmas Project will be collected during  October. Donations of individually packaged new toothbrushes are needed for the Women’s Prison. A box is in the Fellowship Hall and donations are due by Sunday, October 29th. See Sissy Drake with questions.

A devotional written by one of the four Revival pastors will be in each Sunday’s  bulletin to help you prepare for this four-night experience. The Community Thanksgiving Service will be Sunday, November 19th  at 6:30pm at the Princeton Church of God on US Hwy 70 E, Princeton.

Save the Date! Volunteers are invited to participate in preparing Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes at the Samaritan’s Purse Processing Center in Charlotte on Monday, December  11th from 1pm-6pm. You must be 13 years old or older to attend. The vans will leave about 8:30am from the church. A sign-up sheet is posted in the Fellowship Hall. See Sissy Drake with questions.

The Empty Rockers will be traveling to Grandsons Buffet in Smithfield on Tuesday, October 10th. The van will leave the church at 4:00pm. Please see Cecilia Hicks with questions.

Johnston County’s first “Veterans Rally Point” event is Wednesday, October 11th, 0900-1100 at McCall’s BBQ and Seafood Restaurant, 10365 US Hwy 70W, Clayton. Light refreshments will be provided . This free event is a rally point for all veterans to meet, socialize, and network. Please contact Robert Boyette, 919-989-5067, with questions.

Beginning on Friday, October 13th at 6:00pm the Betty Massey Circle will hold a Pillowcase Dress Workshop in the Fellowship Building. It will continue on Saturday. Anyone interested in making Pillowcase dresses to send to needy children overseas are invited to participate. Tabletop sewing machines, sharp scissors, white thread, cotton material (3 yards minimum), grosgrain ribbon, and many willing hands are needed.  See Loree Hyman-Walters or Sissy Drake with questions. We hope to exceed the number of dresses (approximately 100) sent to the Philippines last year.

This is a free event for those attending and includes a hayride, visit to the Pumpkin Patch, kids’ maze, other activities, and snack. Additional food at Sonlight Farms will cost extra.

The Baptists on Mission organization is offering a Construction Skills Training Day at Red Springs Mission Camp, 114 Industrial Rd., Red Springs, NC on  Saturday, October 28th from 9:00am-3:00pm. The cost for the training and lunch is $5.00. There is an overnight  housing and meals option (Friday—Saturday) if interested for $21. To register or learn more go to www.baptistsonmission.org/bom/construction-training.

Skills taught include hanging and finishing drywall, installing flooring, laying out and framing walls, plus more. This training is designed for students, women, and men.

The JBA Senior Rally is Thursday, September 28th from 10am-1pm at Middlesex Baptist Church.

 

Homecoming is next Sunday, October 1st. Mark Your Calendar! Clean Up Day is Saturday, September 30th to prepare for Homecoming. Pastor Jeff McKeel, who served as  the HBC Interim Pastor for most of 2007, will be our guest speaker.  Dinner on the Grounds will be enjoyed after the 11:00 Worship Service and everyone is encouraged to bring one or more food items to feed the crowd that always attends! The church will provide Bar-B-Q, Slaw, and Hushpuppies. Invite your family and friends to attend this annual event!

The Young Adults Sunday School Class will attend the International Food Festival at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Smithfield  on Saturday, September 23rd. See Joe Gotshall for the time.

The Betty Massey Circle meeting is Tuesday, September 5th at 6:30pm. We are meeting earlier so we can enjoy our annual Salad Supper before getting down to business! Please bring the salad of your choice to share with others at this fun meeting. In the past we have had garden salads, pasta salads, chicken/tuna salad, Jell-O salad, fruit salad, seven layer salad, etc. This meeting is the start of our new year and all ladies of the church are invited to come learn more about the Betty Massey Circle!

Hephzibah Baptist Church is hosting a fall American Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, September 7th from 2pm-6pm in honor and memory of those Americans who were injured or killed on 9/11. There is also a great need since Hurricane Harvey’s destruction in Texas. For every pint of blood donated, three lives can be saved! Sign up sheets for blood donations are on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall or let Jerry Weeks know (919-965-0561.) Help get the word out!

On September 10th all Councils and Teams will meet with Pastor Kevin at 5pm to select the representatives for  the Nominating Committee,  Deacon Selection Committee, and Finance Team, plus select their chairman if they haven’t done so beforehand.

The Week of Prayer for N.C. Missions is August 27-September 3. A Daily Prayer insert is in today’s bulletin along with additional information about the N.C.  Missions Offering. Please prayerfully consider your gift which will be collected during the month of September.

 

Teachers’ Back to School Sweets & Treats donations are due TODAY.  Items requested are hand sanitizer, tissues, pencils, Clorox wipes, and ear buds. Trays of cookies and brownies (individually wrapped) will be taken along with the items on Tuesday, August 29th. If you would like to bake cookies and/or brownies, please let Sissy Drake know.  Please place all donations (except cookies/brownies) in the box in the Fellowship Hall . Food donations can be delivered Monday, August 28th to the Fellowship Hall.

 

A Prayer Walk is scheduled for TODAY at 5:00pm at Princeton High School in the cafeteria. Everyone is invited to attend to pray for  the students, teachers, administrators, and staff at all three Princeton area schools. A short program will be presented by PAMA. Come and join like-minded people to ask for God’s  blessings and protection of our schools!

If you would like to bake cookies and/or brownies, please let Sissy Drake know.  The Sweets & Treats will be delivered to Princeton Elementary School, Princeton Middle School, and Princeton High School. Please place all donations (except cookies/brownies) in the box in the Fellowship Hall by Sunday, August 27th. Food donations can be delivered Monday, August 28th to the Fellowship Hall.

AWANA will be starting in September and volunteers are needed for the following:

Cubbies Director, Sparks Assistant, Journey Assistant, Games Assistant, and volunteer listeners.

Everyone is invited to Rains Crossroads Free Will Baptist Church, Princeton for a Back-to-School Bash today from 5pm-9pm. This is for all ages and includes a cookout, bounce house, and games.
